Take a sneak peak into the place to be every Summer... an exclusive member's only club down the coast from Barcelona which has the ultimate mix of bohemian and chic. We're talking about Little Beach House Barcelona. One of Soho House newest clubs, opening the house in Garraf beach only a few years ago.
Garraf is an easy 30 mins journey down the coast from Barcelona. It's accessible by train, bus or car.
The house is filled with interesting art and aesthetic decor with views of the sea. Usually there is a a DJ or live music, creating a fun and more relaxed environment than other Soho Houses.
I used to be a member at the Barcelona Soho House but had a "Global Membership" that would allow access to all the houses around the world. This meant I could also go to Little Beach House.
It made for a brilliant days out in Summer. I could take 3 friends along with me, and they also provided convenient buses directly from Barcelona Soho House to Little Beach House. Easy, peasy.
Photos aren’t allowed at the beach club as it’s a members club, but as I’m not a member anymore I’ll give you guys a sneak look in. If you are not a member and would like to visit, the hotel is open for public bookings. It is good to note that Little Beach House is closed over winter, and I believe prices range from around €300 a night.
For a summer lunch at Little Beach order paella and grilled sardines. My favourite part of the paella is what they call Socarrat, the crispy, savoury crust that forms on the bottom layer of rice when the paella is cooked properly. Pair it with a cool and refreshing rose and Vichy Catalan, deliciously salty sparkling water.
It's good to know Garraf beach itself is public. There is also a restaurant bar and beach huts. And, if you walk 5 minutes uphill from the beach you can find more cafes and supermarkets in the very cute town of Garraf.
It seems like it used to be a sleepy fishing village but now it’s a popular beach day trip for Barcelona locals due to its beautiful scenery and clear water. It’s also very easy to get the train down from Barcelona as the Garraf station is just behind the beach. Another popular beach town is Sitges which is just another also further 15 minutes down the coast.
If you are looking for a good hike there is also Garraf Natural Park, the entrance to it is just behind the beach. Warning, the mountains are steep, but there are plenty of hiking and biking trails.
Interestingly, there’s a very cool Buddhist monastery to explore at the top of the park too. You can hike to the fabulous Sakya Tashi Ling Buddhist monastery from Garraf and then from there to Sitges, it does take a whole day (7 hours) but the views are stunning. More info here.
