About

Hi, I'm Matilda, also known as Mattie. I'm a creative soul, and an explorer at heart. Through creating I understand myself and the world around me. It's what excites and stimulate me, but also grounds me.

That’s why my creativity pours out from beyond the studio, into murals, writing, marketing projects, events, and into everything I do.

My mission? To share my creative journey to inspire others, as I truly believe everyone can benefit from more creativity.

My philosophy? Creativity makes life better.

Artwork

I create art with different mediums, such as murals, collages, paintings, illustrations and digital art.

My inspiration comes from feelings, emotions, moments, and my unique perspective of the world.

I like to play with the idea of distorted or blurry visions, expressing (literally and metaphorically) my vision as a sight-impaired artist.

Writing

I'm as passionate about words, as I am about visual art.

I write poetry, short stories, self-reflecting pieces, travel blogs and creative tips.  

My writing has been featured in books such as Mia Lutko, a collection of writings and artwork from a range of creatives . Read more here.

Exploring

I was born in London, but my youth was spent moving from country to country, finally settling in Costa Rica for much of my childhood and adolescent years. 

Therefore, it’s no surprise travelling, and exploring, comes second nature to me, and that my art is characterised by bright tropical colours and themes.

I have also lived and created in Barcelona, Manchester and now in The Netherlands where I am currently based.
