About

Hi, I'm Matilda, also known as Mattie, a creative soul, and explorer at heart.

I aim to never stop creating and expressing myself, and my goal is to inspire you to to create too.

"Life's better creative"- An advocate for creativity 

I am a strong advocate for creativity and experimentation.

This can be seen throughout my writing and artwork, as well as through the creative workshops and events that I give. 

I view creativity as a broad tool, which can be used for self-connection and expression, to simply a playful activity that sparks joy. I really believe that creating is important and necessary, for everyone.

But overall my philosophy is simple: creativity makes life better.

Writing

I am as passionate about words, as I am about visual art.

I write poetry, short stories, self-reflecting pieces, travel blogs and creative tips, always with authenticity at front of mind. 

My writing has been featured in books such as Mia Lutko, a collection of writings and artwork from a range of creatives . Read more here.

Artwork

I experiment and create with different mediums, such as collages, paintings, illustrations and digital art. Throughout my work, colours and symbology are a key ingredient.

My inspiration comes from feelings, emotions, moments, and my unique perspective of the world. To express this, I play with the idea of distorted or blurry visions, expressing (literally and metaphorically) my vision as a sight-impaired artist.

An International Background

I was born in London, but my youth was spent moving from country to country, finally settling in Costa Rica for much of my childhood and adolescent years.

Therefore, it’s no surprise travelling comes second nature to me, and that my art is characterised by bright tropical colours and themes.

I have also lived and created in Barcelona, Manchester and now in The Netherlands where I am currently based.
